Words from the Ashes

  • Today

    Steam rising from my Americano,

Someone compliments my grey denim backpack,

Stumbled upon Angel Wings in the garden—

Their leaves as soft as a lamb’s ear.

Smoke and mirrors has a deep burgundy underneath the muted leaves.

Digging in soft soil, in the sunlight.

Wearing fresh black velvet and dark skinny jeans,

Gazing out from behind cat eye shades.

This day is all mine—full of beauty I can hold.

  • The Space Beyond

I am not what my eyes see,

    I am the space beyond.

For when eyes close in stillness,

    What remains—

A feeling, a sense of being—

    A quiet glow.

  • Transfiguration

    The golden blush of morning

    Washes over me.

The distant haze and sparks of light

    Not only seen, but felt.

I step into the mists of morning light,

    Not fully changed,

    But never the same.
